Course of Treatment

Diagnostic Assessment

Before treatment begins, a comprehensive psychiatric and medical assessment is conducted. This includes a systematic evaluation of:

  • current symptoms

  • previous treatment history

  • physical health and medical suitability

  • potential contraindications

Treatment is initiated only after a careful assessment has been completed.

Treatment Structure

The treatment program generally consists of:

  • six intravenous ketamine infusions

  • administered at intervals of approximately three weeks

  • with continuous psychotherapeutic support throughout the treatment period

The overall duration of treatment is typically four to six months.

Adjustments may be made in individual cases depending on the patient’s clinical situation.

Treatment Session

Ketamine is administered by intravenous infusion in a safe, professional, and clinically supervised setting.

The infusion itself generally lasts approximately 60 minutes. Continuous medical monitoring is provided throughout the entire session.

Additional time should be allowed for preparation and post-treatment observation.

Psychotherapeutic Integration

Structured psychotherapy sessions take place between the infusions. These sessions focus on:

  • reflecting on subjective experiences

  • processing and contextualizing emotional responses

  • identifying concrete steps toward therapeutic change

  • supporting stability and integration into everyday life

Integration is a central component of the overall treatment approach.

Treatment Monitoring

Regular medical evaluations are conducted throughout the course of treatment to assess:

  • treatment effectiveness

  • tolerability

  • overall psychiatric condition

  • the need for potential adjustments to the treatment plan

Berlin & Budapest

At our Berlin and Budapest locations, an extended ketamine treatment lasting approximately four hours is available. This treatment is offered exclusively to patients with severe, treatment-resistant depression.

The aim of the extended treatment protocol is to specifically support the neuroplastic processes initiated by ketamine in the brain and to make the best possible use of the therapeutic potential of ketamine treatment.

Due to the longer treatment duration and the associated medical requirements, treatment in Berlin and Budapest is carried out under close medical monitoring, with anesthesiology support available in the background. At our Berlin location, patients remain at the clinic overnight following treatment for medical observation.
